This artwork by Yue Minjun achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in March 2008. In the Contemporary Art Asia auction, the work Ninety-Nine Idols Series - No. 13 sold for USD 109,000.00 (€ 68,965.52) - well above the upper estimate of USD 60,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Yue Minjun achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Execution in October 2007 with an auction result of GBP 2,932,500.00 (€ 4,211,262.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 82 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Yue Minjun erzielte im März 2008 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Asia wurde die Arbeit Ninety-Nine Idols Series - No. 13 für USD 109.000,00 (€ 68.965,52) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 60.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Yue Minjun erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Execution im Oktober 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.932.500,00 (€ 4.211.262,96).
