November 08, 2023

It is the first exhibition of its kind, Women in Revolt! Art and Activism in the UK 1970-1990 is the largest exhibition on feminist art in Britain. Over 100 women artists are presented by Tate Britain in London against the backdrop of the social, economic and political changes of the 1970s and 1980s. Their radical ideas shaped contemporary society, especially but not only in Britain. These include women's rights, visibility of black and Southeast Asian women artists, and the aftermath of the AIDS pandemic. From November 8, 2023 to April 7, 2024, visitors can delve into recent art history whose impact is still relevant today.

The exhibits include numerous media such as painting, drawing, sculpture, performance, film and photography. The selected artists include so-called representatives of the mainstream as well as unknown or forgotten positions. Some of the artworks on display are on public view for the first time since the 1970s. The Tate Britain offers several events during the exhibition period such as an Exhibition Tour, Talks and an Audio-Description-Tour for visually impaired people.Art.Salon
