After a year's break, paper positions basel opens again

For the third time after 2018 and 2019, paper positions basel will take place at the Ackermannshof. This year, from September 21 to 26, 17 galleries from eight countries will participate in the fair, which specializes in works of art on and made of paper.

Initiated by gallery owner Kristian Jarmuschek, the special fair brings to the fore a fragile, versatile medium that otherwise all too often accompanies the art world unobtrusively. That the attention is well-deserved is shown not least by the impressive history of the silhouette, which spans several centuries. At paper positions, all techniques such as drawing, printmaking, sculpture, and text art are permitted, so one can expect exciting works.

The fair is relying on its proven concept of largely dispensing with classic booths and inviting only a manageable number of galleries. In this way, the atmosphere of a dialogue-oriented, intimate salon is to be created instead of the usual fair, in the spirit of deliberate reduction to a special theme.

Once again, paper positions promises to be a successful experience for collectors and other art enthusiasts who appreciate this versatile medium or want to get to know it better. Within walking distance, Art Basel will be taking place in parallel at the exhibition center starting on September 24, which is why a longer visit to Basel is also worthwhile.Art.Salon

Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller is often associated with the Biedermeier period, yet his paintings—especially his landscapes, which he created outdoors from life—tell a different story. For the first time, an exhibition of the painter’s work is coming to the United Kingdom: Waldmüller: Landscapes opens on July 2 at the National Gallery in London.
