Maastricht, Netherlands: 36th edition of TEFAF

Art fair continues its success story

TEFAF, The European Fine Art Foundation, has been in existence since 1988 and is one of the most important art fairs in the world. Paintings from the early modern period are traded there as well as modern and contemporary art and design. This year, the fair opens in Maastricht on March 11.

With nearly 300 exhibitors from some 20 countries, The European Fine Art Foundation, known as TEFAF, is one of the world's most important art fairs. It has been held in Maastricht, the Netherlands, since 1988 and offers its audience a wide range of products: it showcases Old Masters alongside modern and contemporary art, design pieces, drawings, jewels and antiques. In its early days, TEFAF was considered radical because of this concept, but today it is impossible to imagine the art calendar without it. This year it runs from March 11 to 19.

In its 36th edition, talks, events and tours will accompany visitors. Interactive panel discussions deal with currently important topics for collectors and inform about the art market. In TEFAF Meet the Experts, internationally prominent exhibitors report on the highlights they have brought for sale.

In May, an offshoot of TEFAF is held in New York. It is not as broadly based as the fair in Maastricht and focuses on modern and contemporary art, photography, design and jewels.Art.Salon
