Traces of the GDR: The title of the exhibition »Burnt in«. Painting, poetry, new music and samples by two sculptors from the GDR is borrowed from the poem Mit Heine by Kurt Drawert. The writer is also involved in the Kunsthalle Darmstadt show as curator of the poetry section, which, together with painting, sculpture and new music, forms the first cross-media exhibition of its kind on the GDR. The works are placed in dialog with each other and thus develop numerous cross-connections and surprising points of contact. Twenty painters, two sculptors, 40 poets and ten composers are represented in the exhibition, which was created according to a concept by the leading curator León Krempel. »Burnt in«. Painting, poetry, new music and samples by two sculptors from the GDR is open until June 29.
Among the exhibiting artists is Gudrun Petersdorff, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program. The paintings of the artist, who works in Leipzig, are based on everyday observations and views of landscapes and cities. They strive for simplicity and sensuality, for the poetry of the moment and leave narrative structures and expectations behind. In this exhibition, she is showing paintings of dancers that were inspired by films by director Carlos Saura at the end of the 1980s. Petersdorff was a lecturer at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig for several years. She has presented her work in solo exhibitions throughout Germany and internationally in Chicago, San Francisco and Baarle-Hertog in Belgium. She has also taken part in numerous group exhibitions.
