On May 11, the exhibition of the 12th Meldorf Culture Prize opens at the Dithmarscher Landesmuseum in Meldorf. From over 200 submissions from almost 90 artists from Schleswig-Holstein and Jutland, a jury selected 48 works by 28 artists to be shown in the exhibition. For the German-Danish Meldorf Culture Prize, which was awarded for the first time in 1990, a specific theme is chosen for each edition, this time it is Diversity. The artworks will be on display until July 12. Visitors to the exhibition can take part in the voting for the audience award, which will be presented with the Meldorf Culture Prize on July 13 at 11 am.

Frauke Petersen is also represented with a work specially created on the theme. The artist, who lives in St. Peter-Ording, works with sand, which she applies to photographs and thus alienates the image with new structures. In this way, she creates relief-like works with which she questions the objectivity of seeing. In the exhibition of the Meldorf Culture Prize, a work by the artist can be seen that shows the variety of colors and shapes of sand from all over the world. The strict order in lines contrasts with the natural sand. The natural spectrum unfolds in the smallest of spaces and develops a completely new aesthetic experience. The sands come from deserts and seashores, including India, Kenya, Spain, Mongolia, New Zealand, Argentina and Mexico.Art.Salon
