Images from the mass media are often testimonies to crises and human suffering. As suddenly as they are presented to us, they are quickly forgotten and replaced by new images. But the problems addressed in the media remain. In her series Icons without names, artist Elvira Flamm addresses the situation of media images and at the same time gives the content permanence. By pixelating the images, she illustrates that people whose faces are seen worldwide in the media nevertheless remain anonymous and are not perceived as individuals. Her artistic treatment also draws the viewer's attention to the fact that media images merely form an imagined truth that does not always correspond to reality. The artworks remind us to reflect on our view of the world, which is shaped by digital media images. Flamm is presenting a selection of her series in the group exhibition 2025 YEAR END at the LiTE House in Berlin. The vernissage will take place on December 4 at 6 p.m., followed by the exhibition running until December 18.

The Icons without names series also plays with abstraction and figuration. During the process, the artist allows herself to be guided by the image without planning a specific degree of abstraction in advance. The closer viewers get to the images, the more the figurative dissolves into a world of pixels. In her creative work, Elvira Flamm addresses the conditions of a theme that determines the choice of materials and the concept. Her work includes watercolor and acrylic painting as well as creative experiments with unusual materials such as leaves. Her various series of works are linked by the exploration of different levels of meaning in the seemingly ordinary and everyday.Art.Salon
