With glowing planets to New York: this year, artist Christoph Pauschenwein is showing four works from his Planets series and one from his Monsters series at the Artexpo New York art fair. The digitally created Planets combine natural and unnatural characteristics, giving them a mysterious aura. The works exhibited at Artexpo were printed on aluminum butler finish. Incident light is thus strongly reflected, giving the Planets an intense glow. In the visually related Monsters series, the artist explores the merging of the unfamiliar and the familiar: the strange creatures serve as sympathetic cultural mediators. The combination of the traditional and the novel is also reflected in the aesthetics: the digital print on canvas features stylistic elements of early modern painting and is presented in an antique frame. Pauschenwein is exhibiting together with Francesco Cusumano, CRAITR, Judy Michel, Delphine Sellem and Véronique Vigneron at Galerie Van Leeuwen Art, which is based in Switzerland. Over 170 galleries and artists are taking part in this year's Artexpo. The fair opens on April 3 with a preview and is then open to the public from April 4 to 6.

For Pauschenwein, the creative power of man and manual processes are of particular relevance, which is why he refrains from using AI in his digital works. Nature serves as inspiration for the artist, who works both analog and digitally. His work includes naturalistic oil and acrylic paintings as well as analog and digital abstract images. Some of his paintings serve as the basis for the abstractions he subsequently developed. Pauschenwein, who worked as a graphic designer for many years, is fascinated by the infinite creative possibilities offered by the two art forms, which he juxtaposes. His works convey the conditions of our society, in which nature and technology come together. »My works are an attempt to explore the balance between the analog and the digital«, he explains in his artist statement.Art.Salon
