Analogue photography is currently experiencing a second spring, in which it increasingly functions as a medium for the artistic and experimental. The GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Leipzig is picking up on this hype and presenting the broad spectrum of contemporary developments in analogue photography with ANALOG TOTAL. PHOTOGRAPHY TODAY,  by means of unique works, series and photographic installations. Starting on 25 November 2021, the exhibition will show various works by a total of 24 artists from German-speaking countries, focusing on materiality and the experimental approach to light, chemistry and technology. The medium of photography is divided and examined in four different thematic groups. While the chapter »Camera-less Photography« presents contemporary interpretations of photograms, chemigrams and lumen prints, »Photographic Time Travel« shows images by photographers and other artists who deal with old photographic techniques from the 19th and 20th centuries. The chapter »Light and Process« deals with different ways of taking photographs and presents experimental and playful cameras as well as forms of exposure. The fourth and final thematic group, »Analogue Meets Digital«, addresses, as the name suggests, the encounter between analogue and digital, which can take various forms. Parallel to ANALOG TOTAL. PHOTOGRAPHY TODAY, the GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst will also host the special exhibition PHOTOBOOKS. Art Page by Page from 25 November 2021 until 03 April 2022.
