They question the objectivity of photography: the artists Frauke Petersen and Karen Seggelke explore the artistic possibilities that photography offers in different ways. Petersen, who is taking part in the Art.Salon artist program, uses a special mixed technique to apply sand to photographs, creating relief-like works of art with unique structures. Depending on the viewing angle and incident light, her artworks appear to change. Seggelke is a master photographer and former director of the Museum of Photography in Braunschweig. She distorts photographs by digital processing and then prints the works on Hahnemühle PhotoRag or canvas, creating further new structural effects. In the exhibition Werkschau. Frauke Petersen and Karen Seggelke are each showing almost 40 older and newer works. The show is organized by the Kunstverein Husum und Umgebung e.V. and can be seen from 13 April to 5 July in Husum Town Hall.

Frauke Petersen is showing an overview of her work from the last 25 years. The works of art belong to different groups: Among others, works from Architectures, a series begun in 2010 inspired by architectural motifs in Buenos Aires, from Body Landscapes, based on naturally occurring motifs in the sand of St. Peter-Ording, where the artist lives, and from Shadows 2, for which motifs from a trip to the Gobi Desert served as the basis, are on display. Petersen initially worked as a garden and landscape architect and has been a freelance artist since 1998. She was awarded the Eiderstedt Rotary Club's Art and Culture Prize for her work in 2017.
