The artist Sofia Duchovny is this year's winner of the Rainer Wild Art Foundation's sponsorship award, which is accompanied by a solo exhibition in the STUDIO of the Kunsthalle Mannheim. Sofia Duchovny's (*1988) images have a certain air of advertising photography and film posters; she takes her artistic persona to the extreme in her trailers, posters and performances in an amusingly irritating way. The STUDIO of the Kunsthalle Mannheim is dedicating a solo exhibition to the artist and winner of the Rainer Wild Art Foundation's sponsorship award, starting on 2 December 2021. Until 20 February 2022, visitors to Sofia Duchovny: Going Red will be able to see Duchovny's face peering out at them from the background through various layers of colour, and in her works she tackles the themes of veiling and unmasking, change of gaze and withdrawal of gaze in the form of visual contrasts.

Born in Moscow in 1988, Sofia Duchovny completed her studies at the Städelschule University of Fine Arts in Frankfurt am Main in 2014. She was the master student of the German painter Monika Baer there. Today, Duchovny lives and works in Berlin. In 2021, she was awarded the Förderpreis der Kunststiftung Rainer Wild. This prize honours artists living in Germany who are no older than 35. The sponsorship award is endowed with a sum of 5,000 euros and is linked to a solo exhibition in the STUDIO of the Kunsthalle Mannheim.Art.Salon
