First comprehensive solo exhibition of Sławomir Elsner

A first comprehensive solo museum exhibition will be dedicated to the versatile work of the German-Polish artist Sławomir Elsner at Museum Wiesbaden from 05 November 2021. The exhibition entitled Sławomir Elsner. Precision and Chance also honours Elsner as the winner of the Otto Ritschl Prize 2020.

From coloured pencil drawings to large-scale watercolours and photography, the oeuvre of the artist Sławomir Elsner can be described as both extraordinary and multifaceted. With Sławomir Elsner. Precision and Chance, the Museum Wiesbaden will present the first comprehensive solo museum exhibition of the artist's work from 5 November 2021, at the same time honouring him as the winner of the Otto Ritschl Prize 2020. Focusing on his current works, the exhibition will provide a summary of the decisive milestones in Elsner's life until 6 March 2022. Various works from the series Windows On The World (2008), Farbstiftzeichnungen (2012) and Just Watercolors (2015) will be shown. While Elsner translates painterly aspects of the Old Masters into the medium of drawing in the presented coloured pencil drawings, he creates light-filled colour spaces in the abstract watercolours through various monochrome and multicoloured layers.

Born in 1976 in Wodzisław Śląski, Sławomir Elsner is a German-Polish artist. He studied fine arts at the Kunsthochschule Kassel from 1995 to 2002 and was a master student of the visual artist Norbert Radermacher in 2001. His works are part of various institutions, including the Deutsche Börse Frankfurt a. M., the Kupferstichkabinett der Staatlichen Kunstsammlungen Dresden, the Staatliche Graphische Sammlung Munich and the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art (North Carolina). Nowadays, Sławomir Elsnerist lives and works in Berlin.Art.Salon
