Fair opening in Lisbon

This year, the fifth edition of the contemporary art fair will take place in September instead of May. Although the Portuguese art scene will be the main focus of the exhibition, there will also be some international contributions.

The ARCOlisboa in Lisbon this year will take place from Thursday, Sept. 16, 2021, to Sunday, Sept. 19, 2021. Otherwise usually held in May, with these adapted dates in Lisbon, the organizing committee wants to create a more suitable setting to promote the meeting of galleries, collectors, professionals and visitors. Also, this year the fair will be held at the Doca de Pedrouços marina, offering all participants the opportunity to discover and enjoy a new part of Lisbon.

In its fifth edition, ARCOlisboa will bring together around 70 galleries, the artistic offer will focus on the vibrant art scene in Portugal together with interesting contributions from around the world. In addition to the general program that forms the backbone of the fair, curated programs will also take place: First, the popular opening sequence with a specific selection of galleries put together by Kunsthalle Lissabon to introduce new artists, among others. Anotherv one is the Africa em Foco program, curated by Paula Nascimento, which offers a substantive exploration to collectors and aficionados of African art.Art.Salon

Kunsthaus Zürich Presents Vilhelm Hammershøi

For the first time in Switzerland, a comprehensive museum exhibition dedicated to Vilhelm Hammershøi is on view: The Danish painter created evocative works, mostly quiet interiors and cityscapes. The exhibition Vilhelm Hammershøi – The Eye That Listens opens on July 3 at the Kunsthaus Zürich.

London: The National Gallery

Ferdinand Georg Waldmüller is often associated with the Biedermeier period, yet his paintings—especially his landscapes, which he created outdoors from life—tell a different story. For the first time, an exhibition of the painter’s work is coming to the United Kingdom: Waldmüller: Landscapes opens on July 2 at the National Gallery in London.
