In his current exhibition Pedro Wirz. Environmental Hangover at Kunsthalle Basel, artist Pedro Wirz comments on the global environmental crisis. With his unusual sculptures made of natural and artificial materials, his immersive installation triggers a kind of childlike enthusiasm and fascination, but also, in view of the thematized environmental destruction, disillusionment. Wirz's largest solo exhibition to date runs from January 21 to May 01, 2022. On January 22 and 23, the artist will personally guide visitors through the exhibition, in German on the first day and in English on the second. On the opening day, admission is free.

Pedro Wirz was born in São Paulo in 1981 and lives in Zurich. In professional circles, his work has been under intense scrutiny for several years, regularly winning prizes and boasting solo exhibitions in Brazil, the United States, Italy, Germany and France, among others. The interaction of man and nature is the common thread in Wirz's work. The artist grew up at a research station for frog breeding in Brazil, where nature and high-tech came together.Art.Salon
