To support Swedish artists during the pandemic, the Swedish government provided 25 million Swedish kronor to the Moderna Museet in Stockholm. The museum was to use this money to purchase new artworks from the artists. Of the nearly 400 new pieces, about 60 are featured in the exhibition Swedish Acquisitions: Insights. Curated by Asrin Haidari, the exhibition will take place in two parts, from February 05 to April 24 and from May 07 to August 14, 2022.

The artworks cover an enormous range on different levels: they were created between 1962 and 2021 and are by artists who are now between 27 and 91 years old. Among them are paintings, sculptures, films, photographs and performances. All of the works are united by a thematic exploration of painful or traumatic experiences. »After difficult years in which we have been confronted with loss and existential challenges, art possesses the ability to carry what does not yet have a language«, says curator Haidari.Art.Salon
