Dancing paper: The cutouts by artist Barbara Stumpp move elegantly between delicate mobility and stability. She mostly uses stone paper as her material—which already reflects this contrast in its name—which is extremely durable and can be shaped under the influence of heat. Using a scalpel, the artist, who incorporates her passion for dancing into her work, transforms the stone paper, made from ground limestone and thermoplastic, into sculptural works of art that combine flatness and openness, strength and grace. Together with Carola Faller-Barris, Barbara Stumpp is presenting a selection of her cutouts, including works from her current series Dancing ChaChaCha (pictured above), in the exhibition Filigran at the Georg Scholz House Art Forum Waldkirch. The show runs until February 22.

As one of 15 artists, Barbara Stumpp is also exhibiting at the Stadtmuseum Hüfingen until February 1, where she is showing cutouts, including Dancing Jive 1 (pictured below) and Dancing Jive 2: The PA!NT exhibition presents current works of art on the broad theme of color. »We chose the title PA!NT«, explains curator Ariane Faller, »because the noun ‘paint’ in English does not refer solely to color tone and effect, but also includes all haptic and material properties. Consequently, we are not only showing paintings, but also plastic, sculptural, and installation works, as well as collages, paper cuts, and mixed media.«Art.Salon
