Something special that connects people is revealed in unspectacular views: painter and poet Korvin Reich devotes himself to selected memories of landscapes that »have the potential for generalization«, as he describes it. He presents his memories with apparent objectivity, without biographical details, and in a photorealistic manner. His paintings become archetypes of collective memories that refer to fundamental similarities in human life and commonalities in memory, which is often a repetition of the same fragments. An exhibition at the Domherrenhaus Historical Museum in Reich's hometown of Verden features a selection from the large cycle of works created between 2011 and 2023: Früher war mehr Zukunft. Das Verdener Schaffen des Korvin Reich opens on October 10 at 6 p.m. in the presence of the artist and runs until November 30.
The oeuvre of Korvin Reich, who lives in Werningerode, is characterized by a wide range of works, from abstract drawings and landscapes to collage-like works and text art. The artist often explores the invisible dimensions of reality, giving them visible forms and thus opening up new perspectives on the world we know. Other cycles of work include Wandlung (Change), about processes invisible to humans, such as those taking place at the atomic level, which arise through chance and the artist's planning, and PI, a collection of large-format drawings on the irrational circle number, which challenges the human need for structure and order. Reich studied fine arts at the Berlin University of the Arts and is also an award-winning poet. His anthology Weltalltag was published in 2021.
