As time passes and shadows wander, so sometimes the sun, sometimes the moon, sometimes darkness take over the surroundings: British artist Toby Christian (*1983) captures all this in his iPhone photographs. He limits himself to the perspective he takes from his studio garage in the London district of Lewisham. Looking outside at what is always the same sharpened his sense for details that are easily overlooked. Christian's work can be seen in the exhibition Toby Christian: No odonata at Belmacz in London from 13 January to 17 February 2023.

Toby Christian studied at the Royal Academy School until 2012, where he crowned his degree by winning a gold medal. He teaches at the University of the Arts in London and has numerous exhibitions to his name, including in London and São Paulo. In addition to his artistic activities, Christian is a writer. His stylistically experimental books include Commuters (2021), Collar (2017) and Measures (2013).Art.Salon
