62 portraits by 55 artists were selected from almost 4,900 entries from 1,713 photographers from around the world: This year's exhibition for the coveted Taylor Wessing Photo Portrait Prize, which was awarded for the 17th time, once again showcases fascinating work by photographers from all over the world. The nominees for the prize were Adam Ferguson from Australia, Jesse Navarre Vos from South Africa, Tjitske Sluis from the Netherlands and Steph Wilson from the UK. Wilson won first place, as announced on November 12. Ferguson won second place and Sluis third place. The exhibition will take place from November 14, 2024 to February 16, 2025 at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Out of competition, US photographer Diana Markosian (*1989), a leading voice of the new generation of photographic artists, will be showing new works from her new photo book Father as part of the In Focus series.

The prize money for first place is GBP 15,000, for second place GBP 3,000 and for the third place GBP 2,000. In addition, one of these four artists will receive the Commission Award, which is endowed with GBP 8,000; this year it went to Jesse Navarre Vos. He shall use this money as support to create a new work, which will then be included in the collection of the National Portrait Gallery. Serena Brown, winner of the first ever Commission Award in 2023, presented her new portrait at this year's award ceremony.Art.Salon
