For the second time since 2022, Annette Selle and Rachel Kohn are showing their work together in an exhibition: Anette Selle's paintings are radically reduced landscapes that explore the essential interplay of color and space. In this way, she develops independent pictorial spaces that deal with representation as a physical process and open up paths to the subconscious for viewers, led by color as an emotional mood carrier. In her clay sculptures, sculptor Rachel Kohn deals with the complexity of everyday life. Behind the playful facades of her works lie profound, existential questions. For several years now, the human figure has been the focus of her work. In Wo wir uns finden (Where We Find Ourselves), Selle and Kohn are now showing their latest works. The exhibition opens on July 27 at 5 p.m. at the Galerie im Kloster in Ribnitz-Damgarten near Rostock. It was organized by the Kunstverein Ribnitz-Damgarten e.V. and runs until October 4.

The traces of the artisanal painting processes are clearly visible in the paintings of Annette Selle, who is participating in the Art.Salon artist program. They prevent any representationalism and skillfully direct the viewer's gaze to the statements made by the images. »In my paintings, I want to create an art space that gives the viewer the freedom to connect—with their own reality. The image becomes a projection screen for the subconscious. For me, an image is good when it opens an inner door and confronts me with myself while keeping me in motion—physically, but also in my perception«, the artist explains in her artist statement. She has already presented her work in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and her paintings can be found in private collections in Germany, France, and the US. Selle's artistic work also includes small-format, architecturally inspired clay sculptures.Art.Salon
