Reflections of complexity: Artists Micky Focke and Christoph Michaelis have developed independent, highly diverse approaches. In a joint exhibition, the works of the artist couple now enter into dialogue and discover deep-seated affinities. Starting from real spaces, both artists lead us into new, abstract worlds.
Painter, architect, and designer Micky Focke creates atmospheric oil paintings on collaged backgrounds. She integrates materials from the throwaway society, such as plastic scraps and metal fragments, into her works, which explore the deep-seated relationship between humans and nature. Her works reflect on themes such as power, responsibility, and respect for the earth, combining aesthetic sensitivity with social relevance.
Christoph Michaelis' photographs explore the boundary between reality and abstraction. The photographer, who became known for his expressive portraits of prominent personalities, leads viewers into unknown visual spaces in his artistic works, which combine elements of real and imaginary spaces. Light, structure, and multi-layering become pictorial means with which he opens up new levels of seeing—an art that moves at the interface between perception and interpretation.
The joint exhibition INSIGHTS – EINSICHTEN will be on display at the MBS villa in Potsdam from November 7 and will run until July 2026. Appointments to view the exhibition can only be made with the artist couple by telephone at +49(0)177 8609027.
