»From Goya to Manet« in Munich

Temporary relocation of various masterpieces from the Neue Pinakothek to the Alte Pinakothek

The building of the Neue Pinakothek in Munich has already been under renovation since 2019. In order to keep the paintings visible, the Alte Pinakothek opened the exhibition »From Goya to Manet« at that time. This will now continue from December 14, following two months of recent construction work at the Alte Pinakothek as well.

Due to renovation work, the Neue Pinakothek in Munich has already been closed since 2019. Selected major works of the 19th century were therefore exhibited instead in the Alte Pinakothek on the occasion of the show »From Goya to Manet«. In mid-October of this year, however, this presentation also had to take a break, as construction measures were also necessary in the Alte Pinakothek in the meantime. The exhibition will now be continued from December 14, 2021. It will run for another year and end on December 31, 2022.

In addition to works by Francisco de Goya and Édouard Manet, other renowned artists such as Claude Monet, Pierre Bonnard, Auguste Rodin and Paul Cézanne will also be on display. Some 90 paintings and sculptures trace the history of art from Classicism through Impressionism and Pointilism to the beginnings of Modernism. Important works from the 19th century can now once again be viewed in direct proximity to famous paintings from the 15th to 18th centuries that hang permanently in the Alte Pinakothek.Art.Salon
