Collection growth at the Kunstmuseum Thurgau

The latest achievements in contemporary art in »New Collection - Art Here and Now«

It is not only fashion houses that like to proudly present their new collections - the Thurgau Museum of Art is doing the same and from today invites visitors to view the latest works from its own collection. These are exclusively contemporary positions that hold potential for the future.

Just as fashion shops regularly present their new collections, the Thurgau Art Museum in Warth, Switzerland, also wants to present its new acquisitions. The exhibition house has been regularly growing its art collection since 1941. Every year, a commission of three proven experts decides which new works are to be purchased. The deciding factors are which works have the potential to last beyond the moment and which works in turn best represent the museum. Interested parties are now invited to view the results of these purchasing decisions between 22 January 2022 and 18 April 2022. The exhibition New Collection - Art Here and Now takes a deep look into the museum's newly acquired holdings. It includes works by around two dozen artists that have been added in the last three years.

Visitors to the collection show will learn why the commission chose precisely these works and what they mean by »contemporary art«. There are various forms of visual art on display, from painting to photography and installations to outdoor exhibits. The exhibitions deal with questions of artistic quality and art today. Among others, works by Othmar Eder, Renate Flury, Co Gründler, Mark J. Huber, Ute Klein, Isabelle Krieg, Rachel Lumsden and Almira Medaric will be presented.Art.Salon
