Francisco de Goya (1746-1828) learned painting the classical way, including a two-year study stay in Italy. He then traveled through Spain and painted frescoes in the late Baroque style in numerous churches. His fame grew and at the age of 27 Goya became the court painter of the Spanish king in Madrid. Thus he had reached the pinnacle of a painter's career, as painters had aspired to for centuries at that time. Goya painted portraits of the royal family and countless persons of the Spanish nobility. He regularly took part in salons, where he always dealt with current affairs - such as the French Revolution, which particularly fascinated him.

For the first time in over 25 years, there is another major exhibition on Jeff Wall in Canada: the Museum of Contemporary Art Toronto is presenting over 50 works by the renowned artist in Jeff Wall Photographs 1984–2023. The exhibition runs until March 22, 2026.
