Edward Ugo studied at the prestigious Pratt Institute in Brooklyn and then worked as an interior designer. Since retiring, he has devoted himself to his passion: abstract painting. The cheerful color combinations, mostly acrylics on canvas, characterized by geometric shapes, hint at Ugo's background as an interior designer. He is also increasingly trying his hand at mixed media and sculpture.

Ugo's paintings are growing in popularity, especially in Washington, D.C., which is just a few miles from Alexandria. There, they can be found in many restaurants and offices. Ugo's lovely exhibition at the Art League runs through December 05, 2021.

The organization was founded in 1954 by conservator and art teacher Sigsbee Gilham to be a platform as well as support for art and art students. Highly regarded in Alexandria and the surrounding area, the Art League has seen increasing membership and attendance for decades. Nearly 7000 people now take advantage of the Art League's free courses each year. The Art League is also the initiator of several programs to support, for example, children from poor backgrounds and wounded war veterans, in which art is used as therapy and to strengthen social contacts.Art.Salon
