The universal potential of a seed

Humans sow their own future: In the exhibition Seeds. Reclaiming Roots. Sowing Futures, fourteen artists use seeds to explore the interplay between loss and regeneration, and between humanity and nature. The exhibition runs through February 14, 2027, at the KunstHausWien. Museum Hundertwasser.

Seeds are the foundation of human life. The significance of these tiny grains, from which countless plants and foods grow, becomes clear when looking at the list of seed vaults that store seeds for replanting in the event of a disaster: there are approximately 1,400 such facilities worldwide. However, seeds are not merely a food source; they embody biological diversity and symbolize hope, change, and renewal. As part of the Vienna Climate Biennale, the KunstHausWien. Museum Hundertwasser presents fourteen international artistic projects that explore seeds as a mirror of the relationship between humans and nature and reflect on agriculture, indigenous knowledge, colonialism, and possible visions of the future. Seeds. Reclaiming Roots. Sowing Futures runs through February 14, 2027, in Vienna.

The KunstHausWien. Museum Hundertwasser, a unique exhibition space designed by the famous artist after whom it is named, presents an interdisciplinary exhibition that bridges the worlds of art, ecology, and activism, featuring installations, photography, and video art, among other works. The works on display are by Ackroyd & Harvey, Maria Thereza Alves, Alexandra Baumgartner, Tue Greenfort, Kapwani Kiwanga, Dominique Koch, Jumana Manna, Christian Kosmas Mayer, Marzia Migliora, Lucia Pizzani, Michaela Putz, Cecilia Vicuña, and Munem Wasif.Art.Salon
