»... of possible worlds«

Unique project Regionale 22 with 19 participating institutions starts this week

Since 2000, the Regionale, an exhibition project for art institutions from the tri-national area of Switzerland, Germany and France, has been held at the end of each year. Numerous vernissages take place from November 25 to 28, 2021, and the project will run in total until January 09, 2022.

The origins of the project lie in the Basel Christmas and Annual Exhibition. The Regionale was created to promote artistic exchange between the regions of northwestern Switzerland, southern Baden and Alsace, and has successfully brought neighboring countries together since 2000. The Regionale serves all artists of the border triangle, who can participate in various exhibitions from Strasbourg to Basel.

On Thursday and Friday, presentations opened in Mulhouse and Fribourg, followed this Saturday by vernissages at Kunsthalle Basel and Haus der Elektronischen Künste (HEK) in Münchenstein, among others. »... of possible worlds« is the title of the show at Kunsthalle Basel, in which 23 artists present imaginary and real worlds and views of the world. Utopian and dystopian positions call for a reflection of our present life and our orientation for the future.

The participating institutions offer a wide range of events. Public tours, performances and workshop discussions promise interesting art experiences even in the smaller towns such as Hegenheim, Münchenstein or Muttenz.Art.Salon
