Yayoi Kusama studied painting in Kyoto in the 1940s, first in the traditional Japanese style, then in the so-called »yoga« style, which was influenced by Western painting. In the late 1950s, encouraged by the painter Georgia O'Keeffe, Kusama moved to the United States. She became known primarily in New York, and her reputation quickly reached Europe as well.

Recent auction results of Kusama
In her long career, Kusama has worked in many artistic media besides painting, including collage, sculpture, video, performance, installation, as well as fashion and music. In recent years, her Infinity Mirrored Rooms and other expansive installations have attracted particular attention. For the Tel Aviv exhibition, Kusama exclusively developed two installations that will be exhibited alongside her Infinity Mirrored Room The Eternally Infinite Light of the Universe Illuminating the Quest for Truth.
This retrospective was organized jointly with the Gropius Bau in Berlin, where a comprehensive Kusama exhibition was already held from April to August this year. In Tel Aviv, the works of the world-famous artist will be on display until April 23, 2022.
