From December 6, 2023 to April 7, 2024, the Queens Museum in New York will entice visitors with two parallel exhibitions on young women artists. Visually impaired artist Emilie L. Gossiaux (b. 1989 in New Orleans, LA) elevates her guide dog London as the main subject of her work. Like her white cane, London is a symbol of newfound freedom, of joy and love. London functions as an alter-ego living her life carefree, broadening and changing perspectives on people with disabilities. The exhibition Other-Worlding was curated by Sarah Cho. Gossiaux earned her MFA from the Yale School of Art in 2019 and lives in New York City.

The second exhibition addresses self-determination in the face of system-based injustices. The exhibition sonia louise davis. to reverberate tenderly presents textile-based paintings by artist, musician, and writer Sonia Louise Davis (b. 1998 in New York), who is currently artist in residence at the Studio Museum in Harlem. As visitors view the paintings, sounds from custom-made steel instruments will play live throughout the exhibition. The multi-sensory show creates a deep awareness of generosity and highlights the importance of active and close listening. Davis previously caught the attention of Galerie Hesse Flatow in 2022 with her highly acclaimed exhibition resonant frequencies, blossoming tones.Art.Salon
