Auction result well in line with expectations
In November this year Phillips in New York held the auction Living the Avant-Garde: The Triton Collection Foundation, Evening Sale Part I, which included the work New Blériot by Alexander Calder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000,000.00 – 5,000,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,206,000.00 (€ 2,939,127.25) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Alexander Calder have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Poisson volant (Flying Fish) in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 25,925,000.00 (€ 19,006,598.24).
