In March this year Bruun Rasmussen held the auction Paintings & drawings, which included the work A capsized ship at sea at sunset by Anton Melbye. The »bidding war« ended at DKK 65,000.00 (€ 8,722.87), 63% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Anton Melbye have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” in March this year with an auction result of DKK 300,000.00 (€ 40,259.38).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 63 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Bruun Rasmussen die Auktion Paintings & drawings durch, in der auch die Arbeit A capsized ship at sea at sunset von Anton Melbye zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von DKK 65.000,00 (€ 8.722,87) und damit 63% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Anton Melbye auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit “Det franske Skruelinieskib Napoleon paa Rheden af Beikos i Bosperus” im März diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von DKK 300.000,00 (€ 40.259,38).
