Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Sothebys in London held the auction The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden, which included the work Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (Bill sings the "Elegy on the death of a mad dog") by Arthur Rackham. The price achieved of GBP 7,560.00 (€ 9,017.49) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 7,000.00 – 9,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Arthur Rackham achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Andromeda in September last year with an auction result of GBP 88,500.00 (€ 100,721.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion The Fantasy World of Arthur Rackham: Rare Original Illustrations from the Collection of Shirley Carter Burden durch, in der auch die Arbeit Original illustration for The Vicar of Wakefield (Bill sings the "Elegy on the death of a mad dog") von Arthur Rackham zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 7.560,00 (€ 9.017,49) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 7.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Arthur Rackham erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Andromeda im September letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 88.500,00 (€ 100.721,56).
