Auction result misses estimated price range
In April last year a collector was able to acquire the work 'Lebanon Restaurant' by Berenice Abbott for USD 5,670.00 (€ 5,381.04). This price was achieved in the auction Photographs at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Berenice Abbott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York At Night, 1932 in October 2013 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 64,366.63).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April letzten Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit 'Lebanon Restaurant' von Berenice Abbott für USD 5.670,00 (€ 5.381,04) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Photographs bei Sothebys in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Berenice Abbott erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit New York At Night, 1932 im Oktober 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 64.366,63).
