Auction result well in line with expectations
In April last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Woolworth Building; Hanover Square; and Queensboro Bridge from 63rd Street, Manhattan 3 by Berenice Abbott. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,120.00 (€ 5,808.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Berenice Abbott achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work New York At Night, 1932 in October 2013 with an auction result of USD 87,500.00 (€ 64,366.63).
