In October last year Christies in London held the auction Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon, which included the work Clairière à Ceylan by Bernard Cathelin. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,268.00 (€ 2,642.19), 51% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Bernard Cathelin have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bougainvilliea Et Begonia À La Table Rouge in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 32,500.00 (€ 23,826.98).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 51 % übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Churchill to Eden: The Collection of the Earl and Countess of Avon durch, in der auch die Arbeit Clairière à Ceylan von Bernard Cathelin zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.268,00 (€ 2.642,19) und damit 51% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Bernard Cathelin auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bougainvilliea Et Begonia À La Table Rouge im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 23.826,98).
