Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Nu à la toilette by Bernard Cathelin was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2016. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 8,000.00 – 12,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 8,125.00 (€ 7,699.96) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Bernard Cathelin - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bougainvilliea Et Begonia À La Table Rouge, which sold at auction in May 2014 for USD 32,500.00 (€ 23,826.98).

Die Arbeit Nu à la toilette von Bernard Cathelin kam im Dezember 2016 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 8.125,00 (€ 7.699,96) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Bernard Cathelin mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bougainvilliea Et Begonia À La Table Rouge beobachtet, die im Mai 2014 für USD 32.500,00 (€ 23.826,98) versteigert wurde.
