In January 2002 Christies in New York held the auction MASTER DRAWINGS FROM THE MARTIN BODMER FOUNDATION, which included the work A landscape study: clouds over hills by Caspar David Friedrich. The »bidding war« ended at USD 11,750.00 (€ 13,672.33), 47% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Caspar David Friedrich achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) in December 2018 with an auction result of GBP 2,530,000.00 (€ 2,818,644.38).

Oberer Schätzpreis um 47 % übertroffen

Im Januar 2002 führte Christies in New York die Auktion MASTER DRAWINGS FROM THE MARTIN BODMER FOUNDATION durch, in der auch die Arbeit A landscape study: clouds over hills von Caspar David Friedrich zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 11.750,00 (€ 13.672,33) und damit 47% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Caspar David Friedrich erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit German landschaft Mit Gebirgsee, Morgen (Landscape With Mountain Lake, Morning) im Dezember 2018 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 2.530.000,00 (€ 2.818.644,38).
