Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Package on Handtruck, Project by Christo was auctioned at Phillips in an online auction in September last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 1,800.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 5,670.00 (€ 5,795.77). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Christo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) in February 2021 with an auction result of EUR 1,706,500.00.
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Package on Handtruck, Project von Christo im September letzten Jahres bei Phillips in einer Online-Auktion versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 1.800,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 5.670,00 (€ 5.795,77) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Christo erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Umbrellas (Joint project for Japan and USA) im Februar 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von EUR 1.706.500,00.
