Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2006 Christies in New York held the auction Post War and Contemporary Evening Sale, which included the work 1955-K by Clyfford Still. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500,000.00 – 3,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,704,000.00 (€ 2,107,067.72) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clyfford Still achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 1949-A-No . 1 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 61,682,500.00 (€ 45,850,367.95).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post War and Contemporary Evening Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit 1955-K von Clyfford Still zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500.000,00 – 3.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.704.000,00 (€ 2.107.067,72) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Clyfford Still erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 1949-A-No . 1 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 61.682.500,00 (€ 45.850.367,95).
