Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 1955-K by Clyfford Still was sold in the Post War and Contemporary Evening Sale auction at Christies in New York in May 2006. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500,000 - 3,500,000, the actual price achieved of USD 2,704,000 (€ 2,107,068) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clyfford Still achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 1949-A-No . 1 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 61,682,500 (€ 45,850,368).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 1955-K von Clyfford Still wurde im Mai 2006 in der Auktion Post War and Contemporary Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500.000 – 3.500.000 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.704.000 (€ 2.107.068) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
