Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2016 Christies in New York held the auction Bound to Fail, which included the work Close Your Eyes and See Black by David Hammons. It changed hands for a price of USD 437,000.00 (€ 392,456.22) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 350,000.00 – 450,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Hammons achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in November 2013 with an auction result of USD 8,005,000.00 (€ 5,883,433.78).
