This artwork by Edgar Degas achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May this year. In the 20th Century Evening Sale auction, the work Danseuse à la barre sold for USD 5,616,000.00 (€ 5,271,259.62) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000,000.00. Admittedly, works by Edgar Degas have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Petite danseuse de quatorze ans in May last year with an auction result of USD 41,610,000.00 (€ 38,775,510.20).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Edgar Degas erzielte im Mai diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Danseuse à la barre für USD 5.616.000,00 (€ 5.271.259,62) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 3.000.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Edgar Degas auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Petite danseuse de quatorze ans im Mai letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 41.610.000,00 (€ 38.775.510,20).
