Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lettre à Albert Hecht by Édouard Manet was sold in the IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN WORKS ON PAPER auction at Christies in London in February 2003. The price achieved of GBP 35,850.00 (€ 52,339.87) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Édouard Manet achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Le Grand Canal à Venise in November last year with an auction result of USD 51,915,000.00 (€ 50,290,613.19).

Die Arbeit Lettre à Albert Hecht von Édouard Manet wurde im Februar 2003 in der Auktion IMPRESSIONIST & MODERN WORKS ON PAPER bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 35.850,00 (€ 52.339,87) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Édouard Manet erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Le Grand Canal à Venise im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 51.915.000,00 (€ 50.290.613,19).
