Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2021 Bonhams in New York held the auction The Gift of Photographs, which included the work Arlington, VA (Jacqueline Kennedy at John F. Kennedy's funeral) by Elliott Erwitt. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,550.00 (€ 2,253.05) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Elliott Erwitt achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work 'California Kiss', 1955 in May 2016 with an auction result of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 24,466.77).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2021 führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion The Gift of Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Arlington, VA (Jacqueline Kennedy at John F. Kennedy's funeral) von Elliott Erwitt zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.550,00 (€ 2.253,05) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Elliott Erwitt erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit 'California Kiss', 1955 im Mai 2016 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 24.466,77).
