Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April 2018 Christies in Amsterdam held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art, which included the work Das Strassenbild (The Streetscape) by Georg Baselitz. The »bidding war« ended at EUR 35,000.00 17% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Georg Baselitz achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dresdner Frauen – Besuch aus Prag [Women of Dresden – Visit from Prague|AID712205] in May last year with an auction result of USD 11,240,000.00 (€ 10,474,326.72).
