Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2010 Christies in Paris held the auction Le Haras d'Estimauville ; Oeuvres et Objets d'Art provenant des Collections Rothschild, which included the work Lion et lionne dans le désert by John Alexander Harington Bird. The price achieved of EUR 937.50 was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as EUR 800.00 – 1,200.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by John Alexander Harington Bird achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Arab horses in the desert in June 2004 with an auction result of GBP 13,145.00 (€ 19,563.70).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2010 führte Christies in Paris die Auktion Le Haras d'Estimauville ; Oeuvres et Objets d'Art provenant des Collections Rothschild durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lion et lionne dans le désert von John Alexander Harington Bird zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von EUR 937,50 lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit EUR 800,00 – 1.200,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von John Alexander Harington Bird erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Arab horses in the desert im Juni 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.145,00 (€ 19.563,70).
