Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work "Water's Edge" by Harry Callahan was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in December 2021, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 701.25 (€ 619.59). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Harry Callahan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trees And Mist (Chicago, Trees In Snow) in June 2010 with an auction result of USD 254,500.00 (€ 207,062.08).
