In December this year Bonhams in London held the auction Prints and Multiples, which included the work Marie-José en robe jaune by Henri Matisse. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 49,920.00 (€ 57,505.93), 66% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Henri Matisse achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Odalisque couchée aux magnolias in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 80,750,000.00 (€ 69,194,515.85).
