Auction result well in line with expectations
The work United Nations Headquarters, 1997 by Hiroshi Sugimoto was sold in the Art of Collecting: A Pacific Island Connoisseur of Art and Design auction at Christies in New York in March this year. The price achieved of USD 100,800.00 (€ 92,715.23) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Hiroshi Sugimoto achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Sea, Ozuluce; Yellow Sea, Cheju; Red Sea, Safaga in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 1,888,000.00 (€ 1,403,404.45).
