Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ringling Brothers Circus, Madison Square Garden, 1936 by Ilse Bing was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2017, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,790.18). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Ilse Bing achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Self Portrait with Leica, Paris in October 2012 with an auction result of USD 50,000.00 (€ 38,586.20).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Ringling Brothers Circus, Madison Square Garden, 1936 von Ilse Bing im Oktober 2017 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.790,18) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Ilse Bing erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Self Portrait with Leica, Paris im Oktober 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 50.000,00 (€ 38.586,20).
