Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Four Guedras, Morocco, 1971 by Irving Penn was sold in the Photographs from the Richard Gere Collection auction at Christies in New York in April last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,320.00 (€ 38,265.16) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Irving Penn have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Woman in Moroccan Palace (Lisa Fonssagrives-Penn), 1951 in November 2011 with an auction result of EUR 361,000.00.
